PLEASE READ BEFORE INSTALLING WORKSAFE™ LADDER BRACKET & GUARDRAIL SYSTEM:

Failure to follow manufacturer’s instructions could result in serious injury or death.

The Guardrail Carriage #470625 must be used with the WorkSafe™ Ladder Bracket and Guardrail System.

Each part of the system must be installed and used properly to provide a safe working environment. Inspect each piece of the system prior to each use. If any piece is bent, cracked or damaged discontinue use immediately. This also includes any ladders used with system.

Class 1A 300 lbs. rated ladders are recommended for use with WorkSafe™ Ladder Bracket and Guardrail System.

Prior to installation, Contractor should determine if WorkSafe™ Ladder Bracket and Guardrail System is appropriate for each application. (Example: if aluminum fascia will not be replaced or cannot be damaged, do not make penetrations through fascia.)

Step 1 - SECURING LADDERS WITH BRACKETS

Secure ladders; always make sure your ladders are on stable surfaces. Secure ladders using WorkSafe™ Shallow or Deep Ladder Brackets. Determine the correct use of each Bracket in relation to job being performed. Use Brackets #470600, #410605, #470610, #470615 if no gutters are on fascia boards. Use Bracket #470650, #470655, #470660, #470665 if gutters are on fascia boards. Space ladders on wall and secure Brackets to solid stable materials such as 2 x 6 fascia boards. Do not screw into rotted or unstable surfaces; attach Brackets with four (4) #12 x 2.5 hex head screws provided with each Bracket (Minimum of two (2) screws per side). Use single style Brackets if ladder rungs cannot be obstructed. Use double style Brackets if worker is not climbing past the point where ladder is secured. Use two (2) single Brackets on both rails for maximum security. When finished using Gutter Brackets, remove Bracket, reinstall screws through back of gutter and seal as needed. To prevent damage to gutter, cover gutter where Brackets touch gutter edge.

Step 2 - INSTALLING GUARDRAIL BRACKETS

Install WorkSafeTM Guardrail Brackets #470620. Place Brackets securely on ladder rungs at appropriate height on ladders, place one Bracket on each ladder. Always inspect ladders prior to each use. Always double check the Guardrail Brackets are both securely on ladder rungs before each use.

Step 3 - INTALLING GUARDRAIL CARRIAGE

Install WorkSafe™ Guardrail Carriage by sliding Carriage over one side of the aluminum Guardrail prior to inserting into Guardrail Bracket. Ring on bottom of Carriage should be hanging downward from top of Guardrail; two small rollers should be on top of Guardrail. Four larger rollers should be positioned to ride freely on the sides of Guardrail.

Note: Always install on top rail. Only use an approved SRL (Self Retractable Lifeline) with WorkSafe™ Carriage. Danger: Do not use WorkSafe™ Carriage with any product other than a Self Retractable Lifeline. Do not use any other lanyards. Make sure length of SRL used will work with platform working height. Be sure to use fall protection devices prescribed by your local state or federal safety requirements.

Step 4 - CORRECT ALIGNMENT OF GUARDRAILS

Install WorkSafe™ Guardrails: 17′ length #470640 or 21′ length #470645. 17′ Guardrail weight: 28 lbs. 21′ Guardrail weight: 34 lbs. Slide Guardrails into appropriate inner or outer railing support of Guardrail Brackets #470620.

Note: Always center Guardrail between ladders. Never extend Guardrails to one side or the other to distribute weight unevenly. This could cause an unsafe force on rail causing rail to tip. When extending two Guardrails past the roof line for roofing or siding applications, the top rail should be between 39″ to 45″ above initial roof surface or leading roof edge. This product must be used in compliance with local, state and federal OSHA regulations.

Step 5 - ADJUSTING GUARDRAIL END STOPS

Install adjustable Telescoping End Stops #470630 to each end of the Guardrail. Adjust End Stops to length and depth of work surface. Locate and install end stop pins on Guardrail nearest to each outer ladder rail (see fig. 2). If end stops cannot be used because of other obstructions, you must use end stop pins to secure Guardrails in Guardrail Brackets #470620 (see fig. 1). Note: Always position End Stop Pins to the OUTSIDE of each Guardrail Bracket to ensure the most secure setup.

WORKSAFE GUARDRAIL SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENTS AND TIPS

Accessing and adjusting Guardrail System: WorkSafe™ System can be used with solid or stretch walk planks. The top rail should be between 39″ to 45″ above work plank. This product must be used in compliance with local, state and federal OSHA regulations. To accomplish this, the top Guardrail Bracket should be placed on the fourth rung above the work platform. To access work platform raise one side of Guardrail Bracket one (1) rung. Making sure Bracket is securely on ladder rungs, access work surface under Guardrail. Once on platform, lower Guardrail back down to working height. Immediately attach SRL to personal harness if using WorkSafe™ Carriage. Now you can begin work on your project. The Carriage will roll freely behind worker as they complete their tasks.

Gable End Usage: When gable end protection is needed, the WorkSafe™ Guardrail System can be utilized by making sure ladders are secured to solid fascia boards using appropriate Ladder Brackets. Adjust ladders and Guardrail height so top rail is between 39″ & 45″ above working surface. This product must be used in compliance with local, state and federal OSHA regulations. Always lock rails in brackets using End Stops or End Stop Pins. Use appropriate lengths of rails to accommodate each use.
